Prof. Hegde mentioned as editor of Man Booker International Prize Finalist

The Man Booker International Prize for literature has just now announced its 10 finalists for 2013 and among them is the well known Indian writer U. R. Ananthamurthy whom the English Department’s own Professor Narayan Hegde has translated into English.  At the ceremony announcing this year’s finalists, one of the judges who read out an excerpt from Ananthamurthy’s short story, mentioned his name as the translator.  The winner will be announced in London on May 22.  Some of the previous winners of the Man Booker International prize (this year it carries 60,000 pounds) have been Philip Roth, Joyce Carol Oats, Chinua Achebe, and Milan Kundera.  You may access more information on the website : and also on YouTube (Man Booker International Prize 2013).
